USS PC-815
(A Submarine Chaser)

The USS PC-815, a WWII-era submarine chaser, sunk just off Point Loma on September 11, 1945, after colliding with the destroyer USS Laffey in dense fog.

The PC-815 was 173' long with a beam of 23'. Rumor has her lying on her port side. Rumor also has it that the Navy demolished at least parts of the ship in order to eliminate unexploded ordnance. Any confirming information would be greatly appreciated.

The wreck is reported to be at 32 37.9, 117 14.2 in 90 feet of water. If you check out these coordinates, please let me know what you find! (Note that the coordinates are not far outside the entrance to San Diego Bay in or near the shipping lanes, so be careful!! Please check with the US Coast Guard before diving here as you need permission from them and/or the US Navy to dive this close to the entrance to SD Bay, also you really don't want to be down there when an aircraft carrier comes in to port...)
